Ambassador Patrick Samuel Mugabwe Mugoya, 52, is married to Sarah with five children. He is a career diplomat who joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1979.
He was appointed Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in December 2008 and assumed office in January 2009. In May 2009 he was appointed Permanent Secretary but remains posted to New York Mission. From 2006 to 2008 he was Director for Regional Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kampala.
He has served in Uganda Missions in various countries: Canada, Italy, South Africa, and held various positions at the Ministry Headquaters including Head of the following Departments: Americas and Caribbean, African Union, Protocol and Consular.
Amb. Mugoya graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Makerere University in 1979. He was awarded a Master of Arts degree in Political Science by Carleton University, Ottawa Canada in 1987, and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration and Management from the Uganda Management Institute, in 2007.
His hobbies are reading and jogging.
